Unirea Medical Center opens major new medical clinic in Brasov in former Colgate-Palmolive HQ

Unirea Medical Center (UMC), one of the largest operators of medical services in Romania, will open a new private clinic in Brasov, the buildings of the former Colgate-Palmolive.  CMU officially announced the establishment of a clinic in the former headquarters of Colgate-Palmolive Brasov

"In Brasov, it's a bigger project (1,000 square meters - editor's note.) Complex", said Sergiu Negut, deputy director of CMU, confirming recently published a notice in the Official Gazette which stated establishment of a new unit at Iuliu Maniu street, number 49.

The new clinic is located in the former buildings of the U.S. giant Colgate-Palmolive, closed in 2008, following an extensive global reorganization. Production is done at the toothpaste factory in Brasov since the '90s has been moved to Poland. [Read here more details about the closure of the factory].

UMC officials announced in July that by the end of this year, the operator will open after a greenfield investment (from scratch - editor's note.) 3.5 million in Brasov a multidisciplinary clinic that will include a clinic A diagnostic and treatment center and a maternity ward with 22 beds.

CMU makes, so under its own brand on the market entry Brasov, until now, the operator has served clients through collaborating clinics.

Last month, company officials announced the largest transaction of private medical services market: the CMU package over the shares owned by Dutch financial group Eureko in Euroclinic. The transaction value has not been made public, but market sources quoted by Mediafax an estimated around 30 million euros. [Read this story CMU-Euroclinic transaction].

CMU estimates for the next two to three years to double the level registered business with the acquisition Euroclinic, 30 million euros. The merger will Euroclinic CMU and around 1,500 employees at three hospitals and 23 private clinics, with a capacity of 150 beds, 10 operating rooms and 60 specialties.
