Business

• German energy developer PNE Wind will invest €622 million in the development of four wind farms in several regions of the country, which will produce a total of 366 MW. The first farm is set to be finalised by yearend 2011.
• Romanian construction materials retailer Dedeman will invest an estimated €42 million in 2010 in opening four new stores.
   
• French sports retailer Decathlon invested an estimated €35 million in opening five new stores in Grand Arena Mall, Bucharest; and in Iasi, Constanta, Brasov and Timisoara.
   
• Romanian businessperson Nelu Iordache will invest €25 million in developing several of his companies: breaking ground for a new airport in Bacau; acquiring new aircraft for Direct Aero Services; acquiring new equipment for construction firm Romstrade; and developing a farm in Adunatii Copaceni, eastern Bucharest.
   
• Austrian steel producer Voestalpine Group will invest €20 million in the construction of a steel factory in Giurgiu with a production capacity of 130,000 tonnes per year. Work begins in June and is projected to be finished in one year.
   
• British medical services provider Medcenter will invest €8.1 million in 2010 in adding medical imaging services to its clinics, and in opening a new medical centre in Ploiesti and a central laboratory in Bucharest.
   
• Romanian medical services provider Gral Medical will invest €3.5 million in the construction of a new cancer treatment centre which will become operational in August 2010. This will be part of its Diagnostic and Treatment Center in central Bucharest.
   
• Romanian transportation company Edy Spedition will invest an estimated €3 million in expanding its auto fleet by 70 trucks.
   
• Romanian-Cypriot dairy Albalact will invest up to €2 million in 2010 in developing its distribution system.
   
• Belgian retail company Delhaize le Lion Group invested an estimated €1 million in opening a new 900 m² Mega Image store in northwestern Bucharest. 
   
• Romanian businessperson Dragos Cinca invested an estimated €790,000, through the Romanian investment fund Neole Limited, in acquiring a 55.68% share in the Romanian-Japanese franchise store network Daiso.

Real Estate

• Belgian real estate developer BelRom will invest €15.5 million in the first phase of a commercial park in Drobeta Turnu-Severin, Mehedinti County, which will include a Carrefour Hypermarket and commercial gallery. Works are set to be completed in September.
   
• Belgian logistics firm Alinso will invest €6 million in the construction of a new 15,000 m² office building in Ploiesti West Park, Ploiesti, Prahova County.
