Ford Romania estimates a sales volume for cars in Romania in 2011 of 103,000 units

The Ford Romania officials estimate a volume of sales for cars on the local market, in 2011 of 103,000 units, up by 7.3% against 2010, while the production target for Ford works by 2013 is of 300,000 units/year.

Thus, according to the estimates made towards the end of 2010 by Henrik Nenzen, the manager of National Company of Sales Ford Romania, by the end of 2010 total sales of cars were worth 96,000 units.
As regards the number of cars Ford commercialised in Romania in 2010, it was 6,000, the equivalent of the 6% market share, Nenzen said.

The figures presented by Nenzen refer to cars commercialised in Romania, without taking into consideration the cars sold to other countries. Almost 37% of the Ford cars presented in statistics as sold in Romania over the first nine months of 2010 went to clients outside the country.

Ford Romania has a network of 37 dealers, which will be extended in the next year by another ten dealers, out of which five will be operational by the end of March 2011.

Nenzen announced that Ford Romania will commercialise the new generation of Ford starting with April-May 2011, first the 5-door version and then the sedan and station-wagon ones.

On 10 December 2010, Ford Europa announced the fact that they will present in the Auto Salon in Geneva in March this year, the concept of the new small class model, known as B-Max which will be produced starting the end of this year in Craiova.

The new model will start to be produced at the end of next year, but the pre-series version only, the production at full capacity being started at the beginning of 2012.

In the range of the American car producer B-Max will replace the present Fusion, launched in 2002 and now the « oldest » model in the range of Ford.

According to statistics, at the level of 2010, Fusion sales dropped by almost 36% at approximately 30,500 units.
The estimates of Ford Romania officials are that in 2013 the production of the Craiova works will exceed the level of 225,000 units annually, and will have a capacity of 300,000 cars and 300,000 engines as a result of the investment worth 675 million euros.

On August 1, 2010, the National Company for Sales Ford Romania became operational being responsible for the commercialisation of the Ford Romania, as well as service and post-sale services.

The CNV Ford Romania team is made up of approximately 30 members and undertakes its activity in Bucharest.

Ford Motor Company, global leader in the auto industry, with the headquarters Dearborn, Michigan produces or distributes cars on the six continents. The company has approximately 178,000 employees and 80 works in the whole world and owns Ford, Lincoln and Mercury ( make whose production will stop in the fourth quarter of 2010) as well as Volvo before it was sold.

Out of the data offered by the Association of Car Builders in Romania (ACAROM) it is clear that the auto industry had in 2009 a turnover of 8.1 billion euro, the equivalent of 6% of the GDP and the estimate for the end of 2010 is of 10%.

He added that Romania is the only country in the EU which had an increase of almost 21% for car production, during last year.
