Nearly 1,000 properties will be expropriated for the construction of the Bucharest-Brasov (central Romania) motorway, more precisely the Bucharest-Ploiesti (southern) segment, the government earmarking 53.5 million lei (about 12.59 million euros) to pay the compensations, government spokesman Ioan Muntean informed on Wednesday, March 24.
The government allotted 61.5 million lei, in 2009, to pay compensations for expropriations along the motorway, but the amount was not enough, since, according to evaluators, there are still 967 properties that remain to be expropriated, said Muntean.On Wednesday, the government put under administration of the Ministry of Transport a 10,000 sq m plot of land, for the construction of the Brasov (central) - Bors (western) segment of the motorway, the section 2, Targu-Mures-Cluj the section between Campia Turzii and Cluj.
Thus, the National Company of Motorways and National Roads is now able to begin construction works on the section of the motorway that is considered as an emergency. The transfer of the plot of land is not subject to any concession agreements, claims for restitution or refund or litigation pending, which is actively before the courts.
