Young people who pay rent for houses built through the National Housing Agency (ANL) will be able to buy their houses for a single national price, which will be made known later this week through a joint order of the Ministries of Regional Development and Public Finance, relevant minister Elena Udrea told the meeting of town and city mayors in Romania, which was held in Brasov (north-west of Bucharest) on Thursday.

 Minister Udrea thinks that this way they will eliminate the very different prices of an ANL flat built in Bucharest and of one in the provinces, the only difference still in place being the plot of land, but only if they decide it should be sold and not be on lease any longer, as it is now.

There is a single price nationwide and this is how we get rid of the evaluation procedure. Flats we sign contracts on for almost equal prices nationwide are sold for totally and very different prices depending on the persons making the evaluation. The difference is always given by the plot of land. We build the same way, there are very small differences for a square metre, the difference is given by the plot of land,” explained Elena Udrea.

The Minister of Development urged town and city mayors to sell the ANL houses as quickly as possible to the young people paying rent for them for the Ministry to get more money with which it planned to build 100,000 houses in three years, of which 20,000 in 2010 alone. The ANL houses can be bought by tenants in one year, in keeping with the law.
